The future ahead -
One million electric vehicles in by 2020
By 2020, German carmakers are
planning to have one million electric cars running on the German
roads. With USD 1.6 billion contributions, the German Government is
supporting this initiative. With Industry and Government joining
hands together, seems the German “electric mobility revolution”
is all set to sweep. The ‘Electro Mobility Law’ in 2014 acted as
a base for this revolution. Recently, Germany announcing the ban on
gas-powered cars by 2013, announced that by 2030, all new cars have
to be electric. The Daimler Group, which, among others, is the
manufacturer of Mercedes Benz, recently, announced their plan to
introduce electric powertrains across all brands. BMW also launched
their electric vehicles. With such a strong alliance between the
German government and the automotive industry, it appears that the
electric mobility revolution is around the corner.
